Isn't it just! Definitely feel inspired. One thing about these kind of pictures (and fine dining outside photos) is they make you forget for a moment that black flies, mosquitoes, and deer flies exist:)

I don't remember ever seeing them before last summer, either. They are so pretty, I which the waxwings were around more often! I love the chickadess because they're one of those few, brave birds that you can get that close to and really look at in detail. Glad you got to expereience it.

I don't recall ever seeing Cedar Waxwings...either I just didn't pay attention or I saw them and never bothered to look in by bird book to identify them...until I saw a flock of them in the orchard last week. They are fantastic looking birds with the little tuff of hair on their heads and the red on the tip of their wing feathers.

I was pruning one of my rose bushes this afternoon and I could hear Black Capped Chickadees in the Cedar shrub right next to me. One flew out and perched on my rose bush just a foot from my face...wished I had my camera in my hand!

Hello Grace, I loved to skate on small ponds near my home when I was young. I pretended I was in the Ice Follies, graceful and sophisticated in my skimpy shimmering costume. (When in reality I was neither and was bundled into layers making look like a clumsy barrel.)

Ice is beautiful...when it is at a distance and not underfoot, unless you are wearing skates. I had a few mishaps on the ice this winter but luckily I landed each time on either my backside or side and my head did not make contact.

I do remember coasting on Burger Hill many times when you girls were little and having lots of fun although it was pretty scary at times when the hill was slick or crowded with kids. The incident with the pool at the foot of the hill I can remember...but I don't recall you being a party pooper and demanding to go home. I guess we started the "Slush Run" long before Martock came up with the idea.

Watching birds can be really soothing and amusing. I've moved home where Iused to see magpies on a regular basis arguing with each other. Now I've moved home and note: I think they are ravens, but they could be crows - they are just as funny to watch.

Dare I mention that I had a pair of downy woodpeckers, too, until the female crashed into one of my windows and got herself killed. When I went to up to the male to apologize (he is used to me so I can get close enough to carry on a conversation), he didn't seem the least perturbed, which only assuaged my quilt a little.
