Busy, but still time for bird watching!

A post is long overdue but I've been busy getting my freelance career anyway (there's a lot of unpaid personal administration work!). But I still find time to pause and watch the birds. So here are my latest photos and some old ones I never got around to posting.

A lovely pair of mourning doves:

Still returning to my Bufflehead viewing hotspot, still can't get a good picture!

Female Hairy Woodpecker (the male visits, too, I've got a picture of him somewhere . . .)

  1. Romance seems to be in the air at the moment.

  2. Dare I mention that I had a pair of downy woodpeckers, too, until the female crashed into one of my windows and got herself killed. When I went to up to the male to apologize (he is used to me so I can get close enough to carry on a conversation), he didn't seem the least perturbed, which only assuaged my quilt a little.

  3. Watching birds can be really soothing and amusing. I've moved home where Iused to see magpies on a regular basis arguing with each other. Now I've moved home and note: I think they are ravens, but they could be crows - they are just as funny to watch.

  4. Grace, that is so sad about the female woodpecker :( I love those mourning doves. Aren't they just the most calming birds to watch and listen to?
