So I took that proverbial plunge (in icy, cold water, brrrrr--that's Nova Scotia for you!) and bought a domain name--not that I have a clue about this sort of thing. Right now I'm using a wordpress script and will be tinkering around with it for a bit. If you're curious to see what that entails, stop by and have a look at the mess I'm making. Not sure if I will stick with the wordpress script (it's the easiest solution) or try building something myself (i.e. bug my programmer hubby to help me). Maybe by the time I get back from my local travels I'll be all ready to go ahead with the new site (I'll try working on it while my friend is at work).
