Smell the Rain (or at this time of year, the snow)

Sharing a quote:

If you notice the wonderful smell of the rain, instead of just moving quickly past the experience without deeply appreciating it, you can prolong your contact with this wonderful sensation. Pause for a moment and really let yourself experience the smell of the rain. If you are struck by the blueness of the sky, linger for a moment and breathe mindfully, taking in the wonderful blue color. Don’t rush past these marvelous experiences, treating them as if they are unimportant. To treat them as unimportant is ultimately to treat yourself as unimportant. This is your life: enjoy it!

One thing that I like to do in the summer to fully experience the rain is to wait for a real big down pour, put on a bathing suit, then run around outside barefoot. Stop now and then to feel the wet grass and the rain on your skin. Get soaked. Do cartwheels. Take a shower under the eaves! It is so much fun. Granted, I have absolute privacy when I do this.

  1. This quote sums up what I was thinking while watching the sun sparkling on the snow today.

Your rain rituatl sounds like fun, but with absolute privacy, I myself wouldn't bother with the bathing suit! One of the things I've been meaning to set up here since we moved here seven years ago is an outdoor bathtub tucked into the edge of the woods, so I can have baths outside under the stars.

  2. Hi Fireweed: I wear the bathing suit cos you never know when the power man is gonna stop by to check your meter (or the inlaws that live 8 minutes down the road)!

The hubby reinstalled our outdoor shower last year. nothing beats bathing outside under the stars.
